‘Super-Agers’ Lead World’s Biggest Dementia Study

Husband and wife in their 90s
In the hunt to cure dementia, a special elderly group seem to hold the key. (Video)

Ageing. It’s inevitable. We all want to make it into our senior years, but no one wants to get there to find it’s not much fun. The greatest challenge is dementia, so the race is on to try and find better treatments, if not a cure. Australia’s 60 Minutes program reports.

America is leading the hunt, and in the above video we meet a group of elderly men and women who hold the key. They are called the “super agers” and they are taking part in the world’s largest and longest study into dementia, led by Dr. Claudia Kawas of UC Irvine.

The results are changing what we know about the disease.
